In order to ensure that the Denver Board of Education has a diverse pool of highly qualified superintendent candidates to choose from, they have opted to partner with an external firm to support the executive search and community engagement process. After careful review of how multiple firms aligned with the board’s values and priorities for the search, the board selected Alma Advisory Group to be DPS’ partner in the search for the next superintendent.
The Alma Advisory Group partner team will work directly with the board and prospective candidates, ensuring a transparent process and actively seeking community feedback and influence. Recruitment and engagement work will begin as soon as possible to meet the board’s goal of selecting the next superintendent by June 2021.
Streamlined Support in Both Executive Search and Community Engagement
Alma Advisory is able to take on both the executive search and the engagement aspects of the work. Having a single firm take on both pieces of the work brings the advantages of a streamlined process, the ability to advise on directly incorporating engagement learnings throughout the search and selection process, and significant cost efficiencies.
In addition, Alma Advisory is highly aligned with DPS values, particularly around diversity, equity and inclusion. The firm is owned by a woman of color, CEO Monica Santana Rosen, and has a competency-based screening process designed to mitigate bias. The firm expressed a commitment to transparency with stakeholders and seeking community engagement to gather perspectives that will ultimately lead to a more rigorous search process.
